What I Learned About God on the Cruise

What I Learned About God On My Last PCC Cruise

by Bridget Froelich

There I was, on the Lido Deck of the Music Boat, listening to Chris Tomlin over the ship’s speakers and writing in my journal.  The boat was docking that morning in Cozumel, Mexico, but I wasn’t about to leave.  I was content to stay on the ship and spend time with God.

I came on the Music Boat as a sabbatical of sorts -- to get closer to God, to read Christian books, listen to great music, and make new friends. And as I sat there on the top deck of the ship, thinking of how blessed I was and how there was nowhere else I’d rather be, I overheard a pair of girl friends rushing to get downstairs.  “Let’s go – we have to make it to the island!  It’s gonna be so fun!”

A thought came to me: the God who delights in giving His children good gifts also gives us gifts of connecting with Him that are tailor-made-- specific to each individual.  I was so grateful to relax and enjoy time on the deck of the ship.  The girls I overheard were so grateful for their time to have an adventure with God in Mexico. God was glorified in both!

Some found great joy in connecting with their families doing activities or excursions, while others were hoping for front row at the many concerts on the ship.  Everyone, from the extremely introverted to the extroverted, had his or her own unique way of connecting with the Lord on this vacation.

I learned something special about God that I’d never considered before. God is a God of unique variety in the way that He connects with His children. It delights Him to do so. What an amazing Father!

I thank the Lord for giving me that amazing time of resting in Him on my last Premier Christian Cruise, and I also thank Him for the brothers and sisters in Christ who had great fun with Him in activities, adventures and all things in-between.  It was all done for His glory, and I love that!  I look forward to having another time of refreshment in Him on the next cruise, Lord willing!

On your last Premier Christian Cruise, what phrase would you use to describe  the way that you connected most with the Lord on your vacation?  Would you say it was a “relaxing” trip, “exciting,” “intellectually stimulating”?  Comment and let us know!
