The Choice
Everyday we have choices, what shoes to wear, if you are going to get out of bed, watch TV or read a book, go on a walk or snuggle up with some coffee. Choices are consistent in the lives of each person, whether it is a choice of religion or a choice of submission we all have choices. A choice is soon followed by a consequence. This consequence is dependent solely on the choice. The relationship between choice and consequence is a fragile thing that should be handled with care, yet we are so quick to make rash decisions on our own with out some divine input. I am very guilty of this, switching schools without hesitation or questions because one did not suit me, or being uncommitted to a specific church because my needs were not being met, and in all of those decisions the only people that I cared about and discussed the decisions with was me, myself, and I. I never thought that maybe God had a purpose and reason for me being at a school or church or apart of a group. We are result and comfort oriented in everything that we do, especially because choice for American’s is something that is taken for granted. The liberties that men thought worthy of dying for we mull over and try to change and edit them to what we think is best today so that we can be comfortable and we can not feel weird or awkward. I look at Christ and never see a moment where he was not in the most awkward of situations, even when he rested he was either in a storm and wakened by scared men, or he was being tempted and tormented by the Devil. We see a perfect picture of divine consulting while Jesus was in the garden at Gethsemane crying out to the Father for not Jesus’ will but God’s will be done. He had a choice that night, and he did not choose what was comfortable for him or what he preferred. He chose to put you and me above himself and to put God above all. So when choosing your socks, or what kind of coffee to drink, or whether to spend some time playing with your kids, or listening to your teen, remember the weight of a choice and do not take it lightly!

McKenzie
