Well, it’s finally a beautiful, cool, sunny, fall day in North Carolina. This is my favorite time of the year as the windows are open and the chilly air carries the smell of burning leaves in with it each evening. It’s a time to pack up the flip-flops and get out the fuzzy socks and snuggly comforters! There are many more purchases of marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate bars as we all compete to roast the perfect mallow for our s’more.
Tonight we go to “Christian Music Night” at the Dixie Classic Fair where we will “pay” for our admission with 5 cans of food and listen to the sounds of “Need to Breath”. It’s an annual event for the whole family where we literally eat our way around the fair grounds. Turkey legs, funnel cakes, fried Snickers bars, roasted ears of corn, and fried sausage with peppers and onions – just for a start. We never miss the pig races where I can totally relate to running around in circles for an oreo!
This time of year is such a celebration of God’s creativity as even in preparing for the cold, dreary days of winter, we get to experience such breath taking beauty with the bluest of skies as its’ backdrop. I hope we all take some time to soak up the changes in the seasons. They are quickly here and gone – but a wonderful reminder of God’s faithfulness. Blossoms or twigs, sun or snow, God is faithful in it all. :) Janet
