Radio Station of the Month (cont. from page 1)

BACK TO MAIN PAGE

Q. How long have you worked with Premier? What do the two organizations have in common?

A. POWER 88 began broadcasting in the spring of 1992, I have been fortunate to work with POWER 88 since 1993. We also have a Southern Gospel station (WLPR AM) which we started operating in 1995, so we have two things in common at the least. Two stations that work with Premier to produce concerts for this area with one thing in mind: great music and concerts that tell the “Greatest Story Ever Told,” which is the message that Jesus Saves.

Q. Tell me about some events going on at the radio station right now.

A. On Oct 29th, we have two events, The University has David Crowder  & Shane & Shane in concert in Mobile  , and in Lucedale, MS  "Praise in the Park" an all day event, local bands at 11:00 am and at 4:00 pm "Matthew West", Paul Wright, Brother Eddie Spencer, and Everyday Sunday. In November, we’ll have Casting Crowns’ Lifesong Tour with Building 429 and Speaker Tony Nolan. The location is Pensacola’s Olive Baptist.

Q. In a nutshell, what role do you think your radio station (and the music you play) has in the lives of your listeners?

A. I'll answer that by placing an excerpt for a letter from one of our listeners:
"At my place of work I am constantly around unsaved people, but I know God has a plan for me and a reason for me being there. My favorite place to be is on the way home or on the way to work when I can listen to Power88. It constantly reminds me of God’s love for me and gives me faith that somehow I might make a difference."

Music Boat 2005 (cont. from page 1)

BACK TO MAIN PAGE

Everywhere we turned it was evident that God’s Holy Spirit was changing lives, moving hearts and turning people to Jesus – from the cruise line staff to the families and friends and from guest speakers to the artists and band members, themselves. I venture to say that no one left The Music Boat the same person. Not one.

Check out the slide show to glimpse a few of the things that made this voyage special, but remember, the most important things were the changes that happened in the hearts and lives of those who walked off the boat five days later!

Silent Auction (cont. from page 1)

BACK TO MAIN PAGE

The event included the “auction” of a haircut for Audio Adrenaline drummer Ben Cissell. All the funds - $1,000 total - raised for the haircut, which included silly swirls and an off-centered reverse Mohawk (ugh!), went to victims of Hurricane Katrina. The haircut took place on the outdoor 20the Countdown Magazine stage in front of hundreds of spectators. A good sport, Cissell initiated the idea and accepted his new “do” with humor and a vow to get all his hair shaved off in a few days!

The Premier Group, parent company of Premier Productions, Premier Foundation and Premier Christian Cruises, continues its auction online with an addition called The Premier Auction. This online auction features premium, upfront concert tickets and backstage passes to meet your favorite Christian artists in person. The site is planning to expand its auction items to include autographed memorabilia such as CDs, T-shirts, books and other merchandise by today’s Christian greats in music, sports and entertainment.

All the proceeds raised through the auction will benefit the Premier Foundation. Founded in 1999, the foundation is the charitable arm of the nearly decade-old Premier Group. The foundation’s purpose is to raise money and pour it back into “kingdom work” - other nonprofit, Christian groups whose mission is to spread the Gospel.

Premier has raised funds for the foundation so far through events and silent auctions, most notably on its first three Premier Christian Cruises. The foundation has raised more than $400,000 in less than six years and hopes to increase that trend.

With the click of a mouse, people can bid on items such as front-row tickets and “meet and greet” opportunities with Casting Crowns, Jeremy Camp, Mark Lowry or Matthew West in concert. With that same click, people are building the kingdom of God by investing in the lives of others.

You, too, can make a difference in the lives of others - today, tomorrow and for all eternity. Check out the Premier Auction at www.premiergroupauction.com

Karen Parrish (cont. from page 1)

BACK TO MAIN PAGE

Karen & Robin Parrish

Q. Are you recently married? When did you get married? What's his name?

A. I got married a little over three weeks ago on Sept 10th in PA, and it is absolutely wonderful.  His name is Robin Parrish... a soon-to-be published author (look for his book next summer on Bethany House) and editor of Infuzemag.com...  After a wonderful honeymoon in Las Vegas, we have settled in his hometown of High Point, NC.  I love it here!

Q. What are your hobbies/pastimes?

A. Music has always been my passion.  I love just about any and all kinds.  I started playing the piano and singing at a young age.  I took up the violin in 3rd grade, but we won't talk much about that... then played the flute and ended up with my true love, the saxophone...  I also really love to read, any and all types of books, and love the movies!

Q. What kind of work have you done in the past?

A. I have spent the past 13 years working for Creation Concerts in Lancaster, PA doing Concert Promoting and Festival Administrating as well as some graphic design and anything else the company needed me to do.  Basically, I've never done anything else.  I spent my last two years of college working full time and doing school full time.

Q. What brought you to Premier? When was your first day?

A. I would say God brought me to Premier ... when I met Robin, my husband, I knew I would be leaving my job of 13 years, which is all I ever knew, and I found out that Premier was here in High Point.  I had known of Premier, of course, as they had known of Creation, so I contacted them to see if they happened to have any kind of job openings.  It happened that they had someone leaving and were in need of someone.  And it was a really great fit for all of us!  We were all very excited!  It's a learning experience for me, since I am doing some things I didn't do in my 'former life.'  But I do bring a lot of experience that I can draw from.

Q. What is your current position with Premier? What does that include - what are your responsibilities?

A. The job is constantly evolving. I believe my title is somewhere between Media Relations and Tour Director, which means I buy a lot of radio to help promote the tours. I also help coordinate a lot of the tours that we are bringing in for the future.  It's very challenging to juggle a lot of the things that are going on, but I love a challenge, so I'm continually striving for the next best way to organize what I'm doing. I love to organize things ...

Q. What do you like so far about working at Premier? How is it different from places you've worked before?

A. I love the diversity of responsibilities.  It's never the same thing twice.  I think that we will never be bored, and that is definitely a good thing.  That is definitely a similarity to my other job, which is a great thing.  I love everyone I'm working with, which is great.  They're very supportive in helping me figure out the things I'm not sure about, since the one thing that IS different is that where I worked in one market before, now, we're working in markets across the country, and that's really something different.  It's exciting.
