Radio Station of the Month (cont. from page 1)
BACK TO MAIN PAGE
Q. How long have you worked with Premier and what do you think the two organizations have in common?
A. KCBI has a long history of working with The Premier Group, which far exceeds the three years I have been associated with the station. My personal observations in working with Premier are our mutual commitment to bring meaningful, Christ-centered ministry and entertainment to the DFW community.
Q. Mark Lowry will be in concert in Sunnyvale, Texas on Nov. 18. How is the concert promotion going? Do you expect a sellout?
A. Promotion of the Mark Lowry concert is going well. We do expect a sellout (or close to it!). Mark's humor is so family-friendly it transcends all age barriers -- everyone feels like he's talking to or about their own personal experiences in life during his performances. The fact that he is such an accomplished musician is such a plus -- you get the benefit of two performances in one evening with Mark!
Q. What do you think makes your radio station unique and a favorite among listeners?
A. I believe the differentiating factor for KCBI is our commitment to provide ministry to our listeners. Anything we as a station are associated with is something that will encourage, inspire, or challenge our listeners on a spiritual level. We offer "solid food" along with our music and events. We simply are driven by the desire to have a Kingdom-impact on believers and unbelievers alike.
Q. What role do you think music, in general, plays in people's lives?
A. I firmly believe that music is a vehicle God uses to reveal subtleties of His attributes to His people. Without the transport of music, there are insights and intimacies with and about God that we would likely miss altogether if we only had the spoken word. And, and it's a vehicle that God desires we use in communicating back to Him. There are simply times in a person's life that music is the only way to penetrate the heart.

Scrapbooking (cont. from page 1)
BACK TO MAIN PAGE
Q. What is the biggest misconception about scrapbooking?
A. The two biggest misconceptions about scrapbooking are that it is time consuming and you have to be creative. The truth is, with the right techniques, you can complete a page in 15 minutes and an entire album in one day. An album doesn't need to be a work of art when it is a work of the heart.
Q. What supplies should people bring with them on the cruise?
A. For those participants attending the faithbooking sessions, all materials are provided in the "Christian Inspiration Album kit". You can bring photos that document answered prayers, your salvation, ministry, mentors, etc. If you are planning on working on other album projects, you will want to bring your photos, album, extra album pages, plenty of adhesive, cropping tools (see note below) and decorative enhancements. Tip: You will be more productive if you sort and organize the pictures for your album project before the cruise.
Important Packing Information for Scrapbooking:
Security Policy dictates that the ONLY “sharp” object(s) that can be brought on-board are scissors with blades measuring 4” or shorter. (Creative Memories' scissors do meet this criterion.) Each guest must assume personal responsibility in measuring their scissor blades to ensure that they fall under this restriction. Upon verifying that their scissors fall into these size restrictions, guests will need to pack them into their checked luggage. The scissors must remain in the guests checked luggage during the embarkation and debarkation process, they cannot be a part of carry-on/carry-off luggage. Please note that cutters are not permitted, this includes the Creative Memories personal trimmer. The cruise line has made an exception to this rule. The following items will be permitted in your checked luggage:
Creative Memories 12" straight trimmer
Creative Memories 12" decorative ruler
Creative Memories Custom Cutting System blades Q. What if they forget something?
A. Limited supplies will be available for purchase during the cruise. You will be able to reach me for any "album maker's emergency"!
Q. What are some of the reasons people like to scrapbook?
A. Creating albums is a fun activity for people of any age. An album allows you to relive the most special moments of your life. People connect on a deeper level when they work on albums together because when you share your pictures, you share your life. The best thing about completing an album is that it becomes more precious with the passage of time.
Q. Anything else, you'd like to mention?
A. It is a joy to partner with Premier Christian Cruises to bring you the very best in album making supplies and Christ centered workshops.

Point of Grace (cont. from page 1)
BACK TO MAIN PAGE
Q. What else is going on in your life right now that you are excited about - personally and professionally?
A. Personally: My family has started going to a new church and it has been an incredible experience. My husband is really involved in the Men’s Fraternity
and it’s made a huge difference in our family. I’m doing Beth Moore’s
“Believing God” Study. It’s been perfect timing for some issues that I’m
struggling with. My boys are growing like crazy. Our oldest son started
baseball and it’s been so fun to see him flourish. My youngest has started
guitar lessons and has dreams of being a Rock Star. Oh boy!
Professionally: Our new Christmas CD and Christmas tour is something I am
completely excited about. It’s a tour that I’ve always dreamed of doing. The
evening is very family friendly and classic. I love performing big band type
music. It’s something I miss from the college days. We will also get to
perform with local choirs every night. A smile comes to my face every time I
think about it.
Q. How did the new book "Make It Real" come about? How is the reception to it
so far? What's the goal of the book?
A. Our “Girls of Grace” conferences are something that we’ve been doing for the last four years. It’s been three years since we’ve done a book for the girls to work through. Howard Publishing has been so supportive of these conferences and helpful in allowing us to follow our passions to reach teen-age girls. The “Make it Real” book and Bible study is one in which we have the opportunity to be “real” with these girls and share a part of us that some might not know.
Hopefully, our honesty will help them to be real with themselves and before God. We live in a society that hides so often what we are feeling because it is looked at as a sign of “weakness.” Our hope is to encourage them that it truly is in our weakness and need for Christ that He can and will be the strongest.
Q. How are the Girls of Grace conferences going? Why do you think Point of Grace connects with teen-age girls through these conferences?
A. The conferences are AWESOME! It’s so incredible to hear these girls worship the Lord altogether. They are truly sponges sitting there soaking up everything that is talked about. I think that we connect with them so much because we aren’t afraid to share the hard stuff. Teen-agers in this generation don’t just hear something and believe it because someone says it’s true. They think about it and decide for themselves what they want to believe. You have to be “real” because they know when you are faking it. We are girls at heart just like they are. (Only a few years older, ha ha)
Seriously, many issues that we struggle with are very much the same. Sometimes, I feel like they are the ones who are teaching me. I think that is part of it, too. We aren’t trying to “preach” at them; we are just trying to share some big sister advice of things that we learned through experience - good or bad. (We share) some things we did right and some things we learned the hard way. Maybe because we aren’t their mothers, they will be willing to listen.
Q. What is the biggest issue facing teen-age girls and young women today, in
your opinion?
A. Identity. Who am I? Why am I the way I am? It’s hard to accept that we are the person God created us to be. The world is always telling us that we should be this way or look this way. All of those things play into our minds that we aren’t lovable just the way God made us. Someone else always has the better goods. We struggle with our weight; we struggle with our looks, constantly comparing ourselves with others. All of that takes us to a place where we may seek God, but still struggle to trust Him.

Q. What songs do you plan to sing - from your album and from Christmas carols or other favorites?
A. I'm sure since we only have the one Christmas album we'll probably sing most of the songs, but a personal favorite that I'm hoping for is, "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day."
Q. Why do you think that your two groups will be great together for a Christmas Tour?
A. Who knows? I just know we've looked up to Steven for a long time, so it'll be great to get to know him a little better.
Q. Why are you excited about this tour? What are you looking forward to about this 20-city spree?
|
A. I'm looking forward to doing something totally different from what we've done in the past...we've never toured doing Christmas songs. Q. Is Christmastime your favorite time of the year? A. Yeah, I love Christmastime ... not only that wonderful nip in the air, but everyone just seems to be a little bit nicer. Q. What is God teaching you right now, personally? A. That my relationship with Him is a two-way street that I need to do my part and not take advantage of His grace. Q. Is there anything else you'd like to say about this upcoming tour or your Christmas album? A. I love this album so much more than I would have thought. I think some of the pressure is off since these are already songs that everyone loves. We had such a blast just rearranging them and tearing them apart and turning them into something new, and hopefully fresh.
