Q. How long have you at Smile FM been working with Premier? What do you think the two organizations have in common? (mission, purpose, etc.)
A. We've been working with Premier for almost a year. We share the vision to change lives through positive music.
Q. What are some of the exciting things to promote at Smile FM these days? There seems to be so much going on in your area: Rachael Lampa in June, VeggieTales & MercyMe in July, Switchfoot and Building 429 in August. Wow.
A. We have a lot of concerts coming up, we're most excited about our Radio E-Wards contest that encourages people to listen longer to Smile FM and to tell their friends about it. We've seen a huge increase in ratings in just the past 6 months. The longer people listen, the more God can use Smile FM to change their attitudes, moods and lives. With Radio E-Wards, listeners earn points for listening and then get to use those points in fun online auctions. We've given away everything from concert tickets to vacations and later this year we're giving away a new car!
Q. Why did you want to partner with Premier on promoting The Music Boat 2005? What do you think is unique about concerts on a cruise?
A.We were hoping that someone would do a Christian Music Cruise. We aren't big enough, yet, to fill a whole boat on our own, but we're excited to offer our listeners something that is more than a vacation, but an opportunity to grow in their faith and meet others with the same values.
Q. Did your radio station help give away a cruise for two recently for The Music Boat 2005? What was that contest all about? What is the Smile FM Ultimate Icon? How did Cyndi Hotopp win?
A. We actually didn't give that cruise away, but promoted another non-profit organization that did. Touched by a Life is a ministry that uses the arts to share their faith. They came up with a singing competition and the winner won a trip for 2 on the Music Boat. I could tell that God really wanted Cyndi and her husband to win. She had pursued a singing career when she was younger, she was in the Continentals and then the Jeremiah People in the 80's. She then took a break to raise her family. She has 2 birth children and 4 special adopted kids. They've never had a chance to get away for this long and this will be their first cruise.
Q. What do you think makes your station unique or a favorite among listeners?
A. Smile FM is now on 10 stations across Michigan, we have the most geographic area of Michigan covered than any other company Christian or Mainstream. We feel this coverage area and focus on Michigan helps us to be unique in the state. People from Michigan travel a lot in state, they really love to be able to take Smile FM with them. We also started streaming online just last week and it's already been a huge success.

Q. I know that you officially took a break in May. What did you do in your "off" time?
A. Well, we are finishing the record and spending time with family. Hector is getting married. Chris is planning his wedding in August. Andy and Kelly are moving into their new home. It was a long-awaited break.
Q. You have a very packed schedule for summer and fall - including a new album release in August! Can you give a glimpse at the themes or messages from your new album?
A. We are staying right where we were with the last record. We are still talking about the things that don't get talked about in church sometimes. Don't hear me wrong - we're not the angry artists throwing rocks at the church. We're in the church everyday. If anything we're talking about our own weaknesses and struggles, in hopes that there will be a little more freedom for others to be themselves among the body of Christ. We're afraid to be transparent and show weakness. It's as though we have a picture in our heads of the perfect Christian and we're trying to portray that role in church no matter how far from reality that role may be. But if we are not genuine and honest in church - then everything becomes a performance. That will deflate my passion, hollow out my worship, and shipwreck my faith. We are praying for revival in the body. We don't feel that our little songs will bring it about. But we sure would like to be in on it when it comes!
Q. After winding down your spring tour, what is the biggest thing God has shown you during this time?
A. How big the world is and how many people there are out there who need Jesus - and how much I need to be walking with Him as I pass through it.
Q. As a featured artist on The Music Boat 2005, tell us why you think a cruise with Christian artists and music fans is a great idea? Why did you all want to be a part of this adventure?
A. Because you get all the good stuff that can happen in a cruise plus an atmosphere that will build you up and not tear you down. Sometimes vacation can turn into spiritual vacations as well...meaning - no quiet time, no church, no accountability. On this cruise you get the vacation and you will be spiritually poured into as well. That is good stuff.

Celebrating her 10 th anniversary with the company in May, Klass heard about the High Point booking agency, then-called Morgan & Associates, while she was a student at High Point University in High Point, N.C. She began working as an office assistant part time and continued for two years until graduating in 1997 with a double major in accounting and business administration. As she came onboard full time, her job description and title changed several times over the years. Now as marketing director, she coordinates all the printing for Premier’s concerts, cruises and events. She also oversees all the Premier email marketing and websites.
Born June 26, 1974, Klass was raised in Kernersville, N.C., and currently resides in Winston-Salem with her husband Mitch of three years and their two cats – Gracie and Lacy. She enjoys going to sporting events and spending time with her family. She has worked in a variety of jobs through her teen and college years – from a salesclerk at Kmart and a tanning salon to an assistant in the financial aid department at college and assembly-line sock stuffer at Sarah Lee Sock Co.
She enjoys attending concerts - the last one was MercyMe in Greensboro on April 22 - and has been able to go on both cruises that Premier has orchestrated so far. She also plans to be onboard The Music Boat Cruise 2005 in September.
“There are so many special memories from the cruises, it’s hard to pinpoint only one,” she said. “It’s awesome to be on a cruise ship surrounded by fellow believers with Christian music echoing all around you! There’s nothing else like it.”
Klass said she is very excited about the next 10 years. “I look forward to many more years with Premier!
