Contemporary Christian fans came out to Winter Jam this year in droves, and we have the numbers to prove it!
Thanks to outstanding fan support, Winter Jam Tour Spectacular 2007 ranked 7th in the Top 50 Tour Promotions in the first quarter of 2007, according to the April 23 edition of Pollstar magazine, which tracks concert promotions worldwide. With 255,445 in recorded ticket sales, the tour helped place Premier Productions in 7th place, as well, in the Top 50 Promoters in the world.
“We are simply floored by the response to Winter Jam this year and amazed by all that God has done through this event,” said Robyn Klass, marketing director with Premier. “We are grateful to all the bands who led the way and the people who introduced their friends to Jesus through Winter Jam this year. That’s what this is all about!”
The 12th Annual Winter Jam Tour Spectacular 2007 left all the previous years’ totals in the dust, said Jonas Applegate with VanLiere-Wilcox, Winter Jam’s Management Company.
“In my opinion, Winter Jam ‘07 was an amazing success that God used to make an eternal impact on the areas that were visited,” Applegate said.
More than 38,000 people made decisions for Jesus at Winter Jam concerts across the nation this year, said Applegate.
Glancing back at the tour’s three-month, 30-plus-city jaunt across the nation, Winter Jam delivered an eternal message and impacted thousands of lives. More than 275,000 people attended the concerts, Applegate noted – an increase of about 7,500 over last year.
“I’d have to say that 2007 was our best Winter Jam Tour to date, which is hard to believe after the phenomenal year we had last year,” said Roy Morgan, owner with Premier Productions, promoter of this long-standing tradition in Christian music. “I’m amazed that it keeps getting better and better every year!”
Boasting its strongest line-up yet, the tour has become a highly anticipated event through the years. With more than 14 million albums sold among the artists, the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular (www.jamtour.com) has been hosted each year by the award-winning band, NewSong and featured headliners Steven Curtis Chapman and Jeremy Camp.
Joining the tour were special guests Hawk Nelson, Sanctus Real, new artist Britt Nicole, Speaker Tony Nolan, Presidential impersonator and comedian John Morgan and the breathtaking, fire-breathing Andre the Hollywood Cowboy.
Winter Jam 2007 Tour Spectacular launched on January 12 in Tri-Cities, Tenn. and ran through March 13 in Charlotte, N.C., stopping in 17 states along the tour route.
"All that's left to say is 'Thank you for a great Winter Jam,' and we look forward to seeing you again next year," Morgan said.
